As you are no doubt aware, winter weather is really descending in our neck of the woods. It’s not just New York that’s affected either. A quick look at the news shows that it’s widespread and that in many instances, it’s worse than we thought it could be.

The New York Times notes that it’s a storm that is “notable for a steep drop in atmospheric pressure that prompted some forecasters to describe it as a ‘bomb cyclone,’” and that it “was but one act in a prolonged run of misery that had already enveloped millions of people in a wintry torment of Arctic air and snow-blown streets.”

Their article also mentions that “some states, including New York, imposed restrictions on some roads and limited truck travel.”

Sounds Like a Good Reason to Stay In

Having home propane set up means that you can batten down the hatches and spend a bit of time inside. Sure, flights are delayed; yes, you might miss some work. While this so-called “bomb cyclone” rages outside, you can stay inside and curl up with your propane fireplace.

At the end of the day, we truly believe that you’re better safe than sorry. When roads are packed with snow and ice, it’s always the wiser idea to say in if you can. There always seems to be at least one person who is driving way too fast and thinks it’s a good idea to pass even during whiteout conditions. Instead, stay in and take it easy for awhile. You deserve the break!

What to Do While Hunkering Down

But what are you supposed to do while you’re stuck at home? The team at DiSanto Propane has a few suggestions.

Rent a Movie

There’s bound to be at least one movie you never caught in the theater, and perhaps there are many more. This is the perfect opportunity to fire up your internet-connected television and find something to watch.

Build a Blanket Fort With the Kids

You’re stuck in the house with the kids. You could let them drive you crazy and allow the walls to start closing in on you. Or, of course, you could have a bit of fun! Break out the blankets and build yourselves a fort. Grab a board game and play along. Take turns reading to each other. Engage with the kids and you’re sure to find a good way to pass the time.

Try a New Meal

You could also raid the pantry and see what you can cobble together out of the ingredients you have on hand. It’s the perfect time to get creative and try something you’ve never made before.
