August feels hotter than the Dickens, and the last thing you want to do is make your home feel even hotter by cooking inside. Luckily, you have a propane grill for outdoor cooking. When most people think about grilling, they associate it with cooking chicken, burgers, pork chops, and steaks. Can you grill if you are a vegetarian? The answer is yes, and you can cook some truly delicious culinary fare in the process! Where do you even start? You could throw a frozen veggie burger patty on the grill, but we recommend against it. There are so many delicious, fresh foods you can cook instead. Today, we would like to discuss some grilling tips for vegetarians:

The Perks of Propane Grills

In comparison to charcoal grills, propane grills are more predictable and reliable when cooking veggies, which is a great thing. Another perk is that propane grills tend to be easier to clean as opposed to charcoal grills.

Veggie Kabobs

You don’t need meat to make a good kabob. Grilling veggie kabobs are so much fun because you can get as creative as you want. Some delicious veggies for grilling include cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and peppers. Simply cut up your favorite veggies into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in a delicious sauce, and load them onto skewers. Remember that veggies don’t take long to cook, so watch them closely on the grill.

Other Grilled Veggies

If you have a foil pack or a grill basket, you can grill all kinds of vegetables, so go buck wild! Corn is absolutely delicious grilled, which we would highly recommend. You could also grill cauliflower, potatoes, and more.

Tempeh and Tofu

Would you like an extra boost of protein? Try grilling tofu or tempeh on the grill. If you decide to grill tofu, make sure to use extra-firm tofu that is drained. About thirty minutes before grilling, take the tofu out of the package and pour out the liquid it is packaged in. Place it on a plate and wrap it with a paper towel. Place a heavy plate on top of the tofu and leave it to drain for thirty minutes. If you would rather not deal with all that, grill up some tempeh instead.

Portabella Mushrooms

Grilled portabella mushrooms are truly delightful. However, mastering the grilling technique takes some skill. Start by mixing oil and vinegar together with some salt and freshly ground pepper. If you would like, add any additional spices and soak your portabella mushrooms in this marinade for at least an hour. Once they’ve marinated, throw them on the grill for a savory treat.

Pizza

Did you know that you can grill pizza? It’s true; raw pizza dough can be cooked directly on a grill instead of being baked. If you are pressed for time, you could always top a flat bread with your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings and throw it on the grill.
