In upstate New York, fall is considered the best time of year for most of its residents. At DiSanto Propane, we love cozying up to the fire on chilly evenings as the gold, red, and orange leaves are released from the trees outside. Fall is a wonderful season for everyone, and here are some reasons why:

The Kids Are Back in School

Glory hallelujah, your kids are finally back in school! We know that as much as you love your kids, you love them even more when they are in school. Your life is so much easier without trying to figure out where they need to be while you are at work.

No More Light Summer Fare

Summer dishes tend to be on the lighter side and filled with salads and other cold foods. Now that the temperatures are dropping, you can eat whatever you please. What’s not to love about that?

Sweaters

Just a few months ago, it was way too hot to wear your favorite sweater. Now you can break all of your favorite sweaters and boots out of your closet and start wearing them again.

Boots

Are you a fan of wearing boots? The last thing you want to wear in the sticky heat of summer are leather boots. While you are retrieving your sweaters out of the closet, you mind as well break out your boots as well. They might need a good polish before you slip them on, so be sure to spruce them up.

Pumpkins

Starbucks caught onto something when they started making the pumpkin spice lattes, which ladies can’t get enough of. Pumpkins make delicious pies, which are most popular at the biggest fall holiday, Thanksgiving.

Soups

In summer, gazpacho soup is popular, but who really wants cold soup anyway? Finally, it’s cold enough to enjoy a hearty soup. During a crisp fall evening, nothing is quite as comforting as a hearty bowl of chili.

Football Season

If you are a fan of football, you’ve been waiting for fall for quite some time. Fall is the season for cheering your favorite team on as well as for tailgating. Just remember, if you go tailgate, make sure to bring your propane camping stove so that you can eat some delicious food as you celebrate your favorite team.

Fall Decorations

With the change in seasons, you can finally break out your fall-scented candles and your fall decor. For some of you, that could mean hanging your favorite football team’s pennant outside of your home. Earthier types might want to hang a fall wreath on their front door. It’s your home, so decorate your home however you please!

Dogs Playing in Leaves

Really, there’s nothing quite as cute as a dog playing in a pile of freshly raked leaves, unless it’s a puppy. Puppies playing with joyful abandon in the falling leaves is about as cute as you can get.

New TV Seasons

Unless you’re a Game of Thrones fan, most TV shows debut their newest season in the fall. New episodes of your favorite TV show give you something to look forward to on a weekly basis. However, if it’s a TV show on Netflix, you can binge on an entire season in a matter of days, which is truly delightful.

Halloween

One of the best days of the year is October 31, which is the only day when it’s socially acceptable to be dressed in the most decadent costume anywhere in public. This means that it’s totally fine to grocery shop dressed as Dracula or go to the bank dressed as a witch (just don’t wear any masks).

The entire month of October builds up to Halloween, so there’s always a plethora of fun, spooky TV shows and movies playing. Hocus Pocus fans rejoice as this movie is playing pretty much the entire month.

Speaking of TV

During the summer, days are super long, which means that you may feel guilty watching TV when it’s still light outside. Now that the days are shorter, you can watch your favorite shows without feeling bad about it. Relax and feel free to binge watch new shows on Netflix and watch Hocus Pocus as much as humanly possible (although your significant other might hate you for it).

Hard Cider

No drink tastes quite as refreshing during the fall season like a delicious hard cider. To suit the wide range of tastes out there, both sweet ciders and dry ciders are available to quench your thirst.

Red Wine

To be honest, drinking red wine when it’s hot outside can be pretty gross. Whether you like Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet, or Malbec, you can finally drink a glass without trying to sneak in some ice cubes, which is considered bad form.

Thanksgiving

You know what holiday is better than Christmas? Thanksgiving. On Turkey Day, you are not obligated to provide every member of your family (even those you don’t like) with a gift. Most people only celebrate in one location for Thanksgiving, but you might find yourself driving all across the state to visit various family members for Christmas. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a good meal with your favorite people without any gift-giving obligations.
